UNM alum Jarrin Solomon claimed a new personal record in the men's 400-meter dash at the IAAF World Championships as he qualified to tomorrow's semifinals.

Jarrin Solomon, a 2009 UNM graduate and native of Albuquerque, is competing at the 14th IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia, this week.

Lobo track and field will be holding team tryouts on Tuesday, August 27, and Wednesday, August 28, at 3:30 p.m. at the University of New Mexico's Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

UNM men's and women's track and field have been named Division I All-Academic Track & Field teams by the USTFCCCA, while seven women and four men were awarded individual All-Academic honors.

As recruiting across collegiate athletics continues through summer, UNM track and field has added a new group of talented student-athletes as it aims to challenge once again for postseason success.

UNM track senior Luke Caldwell took fifth in the men's 5000-meter run at the 9th European Athletics U23 Championships, while sophomore Elmar Engholm placed 17th in the preliminaries of the men's 1500.

UNM senior-to-be Django Lovett tied for seventh in his section of the men's high jump preliminaries at the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia, on Sunday, but couldn't advance to the finals.
